What Fun Things To Do On A Rainy Day?
It’s the rainy season!
So, in Bali, we only have two seasons, dry and wet. And the rainy season is my favorite! I simply enjoy the vibe more than a bright sunny day.
The vibe on a rainy day allows me to do the things that I enjoy in the house. Listening to raindrops tap your window. Getting to wear your super warm sweater. Throwing a movie marathon, coffee, or hot chocolate included. Getting to read a good book.
You don’t have to fend off crowds everywhere you go.
For me, rainy days actually increase workplace productivity.
But, for some people, nothing can be more of a bummer when you have your day planned for going outside and the rain pours.
While it is true that nothing beats the feeling of warmth brought about by sunshine, it does not mean that you can’t have fun being indoors. This should not be the case if you can find something fun or productive to do inside the house.
You will be surprised at the many things that you can do when it’s raining when you feel like you have no choice but to be cooped inside the house.
Here are 20 things to do when it’s raining that will never ever make you feel bored again!
You can maybe pick one or a few of the things in here to get you preoccupied during the rainy days. Who knows? If you learn to like whatever it is that you have just discovered doing, you might be able to make it your own hobby.
Read A Book
This might seem like a cliche’, but reading a book has always been considered fun and productive. Curl up by the fire or heater or really anywhere cozy and lose yourself in a good book. Here top 20 books you need to read to crush 2020.
Watch A Movie
Some people prefer to watch their favorite movies over and over to make them feel better, while others would like to watch random movies on cable. These days I’m going back to my childhood and watch some anime (Japan’s animation).
Learn To Cook Your Favorite Meal
This only applies if you don’t know how to cook. I live with my mom so she is the one who cooks every day. I like spaghetti and I did make it before. I could say because all the ingredients are easy to find in any market, it’s simple and easy to make.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to create and eat your favorite meal at any time without ordering or having someone else cook for you?
It takes the stress away. You can do cross-stitch or simple scrapbooking on a rainy day!
Enjoy A Cup Of Coffee
You can enjoy a cup of coffee either at home or at a nearby cafe. I always have a cup of coffee during the day when working – it’s really good to have my favorite drink once a day, especially on a rainy day!
Clean Up Your Closet
This might be the best opportunity for you to give out your used clothes to charity and maybe shop for new ones.
Organize Your Gallery
Organizing your gallery both on the phone and computer is one of the productive things you can do inside the house or on a rainy day! I don’t know how many photos I took in a day, that’s why I put ‘declutter’ day on my weekly planner.
Plan An Indoor Date
Here is something that most people will love to do on a rainy day! Plan your simple indoor date with your special one, play a game, watch a movie, or curl up by the fire or heater or really anywhere cozy.
Write in your journal what your daily reflections are, what you’re grateful for, who you’re grateful for, etc.
Create your monthly vision, planning your content for the next few months, write down what goals you want to achieve next month.
Update Your Social Media Platforms And Blog
On a rainy day, plan out your social media contents or take photos for your content, whatever is it to update your social media. If you have a blog, you can also update your old posts or revamping any photos for your blog! That’s something that I enjoy doing when I’m not creating content.
Read Helpful Blogs
Explore blogs about families, self-care, personal development – something that will bring you positivity.
For your own goods, and also for my mental health during the current situation, I read more blogs about personal development, well-being, and self-care related contents. That’s really helping me to stay positive!
Watch A Full Season TV Series
Watch a full season tv series that you’ve always wanted to see but never had the time.
My favorites tv series so far are The Walking of Dead, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Original – something relates to fantasy, horror, or make me feel refreshed.
If you have a treadmill at home, or other equipment that will help you get fit, do so.
Spend Time And Play With Your Pets
If you have pets, make time to play with them during rainy days. I know that dogs are afraid of rain and thunder, so I always make sure to stay with them and hug them on a rainy day!
And if you’re a dog lover who is looking for gifts, here 30 Christmas gifts for your bestie.
Make Delicious Waffles And Pancakes
If you can bake or enjoy cooking, you can make waffles or pancakes for yourself or your family. Spend the rainy day doing something you enjoy!
Eat Cookies With Milk
It will make any rainy day feel so much better! Hot chocolate, milk, or coffee with cookies.
Do Your Nails
Put colors on your nails that you never dared to use before. Treat yourself to some grooming. Self-waxing kits, manicure sets, the whole enchilada. You could even cut your own hair!
Have A Nice Little Chat With The Family
While eating ice cream, playing with your dog, or drinking a coffee, it’s nice to have a little chat with your family.
Take a Long Nap
Don’t set an alarm. Just close your eyes and let the sounds of the storm lull you to sleep.
You don’t have to do all of these things on one rainy day all at once. You just need to know that there are many fun things that you can do even without sunshine.

All in all, rainy days aren’t that bad, for people who don’t like rain. It might look gloomy, but you can turn it into a bright and happy day!
