AD – Product Review / For my job, I needed more than eight hours a day staring at a computer screen. Plus, unfortunately, after work, I would often find myself staring at another, smaller screen: the rectangle of my phone.
I often felt like my eyes were tired by the end of the day, and sometimes felt dizzy until I finally turned off my devices.
A study in the Journal of Adolescent Health showed that when a group of young boys wore orange glasses while looking at their phones for a few hours before bed, they felt “significantly more sleepy” than when they wore clear glasses.
Blue light itself actually isn’t a bad thing. It’s everywhere – including in sunlight. But now we’re constantly bathing in artificial light, most of it blue. Too much exposure to blue light at night suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep cycles.
I know that we can’t seem to escape blue light even if we’re indoors with all the windows shut, because chances we’re sitting in front of a computer, TV, or using our smartphone.
For those who spend the majority of their time indoors, blue light glasses like Classy protect your eyes from extended exposure to blue light and help relax your vision reducing digital eye strain.
Here’s what I learned from wearing blue light sunglasses for a week.
Blue light glasses don’t have to be ugly
At the beginning of March, I received two blue light glasses, Classy (for me) and Met Again (for my mom), and aviator sunglasses, Halo from SojosVision. They also offer prescription glasses if you need one.
I’ve heard that blue-light glasses is good for blocking computer screen. Their glasses filter out the higher end of the blue light spectrum, so the lens doesn’t look yellow.
The glasses are also adorably chic and elegant, with options to add a prescription if you need it. I opted for a Classy with Rose Gold Frame with blue light filtering and no prescription.
First, I love the packages so much! The box contains many things for the glasses. You can see below how it looks. As a rose gold lover, I couldn’t say much about the glasses. It’s so beautiful and chic! My mom said that I look pretty with it and I definitely agree with her! It doesn’t make you ugly at all!
I have tried a lot of glasses before, but this is my first-time blue-light glasses. As I spend a loooot of time working on content creation, I always feel worried about my eyes. I don’t want to use prescription glasses at my young age (or adult). I couldn’t avoid using normal glasses to reduce the computer screens, tho.
Other than it makes me doesn’t look bad in front of the computer, it also helps me block the radiation from the computer screen – makes me feel comfortable writing for a long time.
They made me more aware of my screen time
I usually only use normal glasses (non-light-blocking) at home. I found that when I had to wear my blue light glasses every time I was looking at a screen, it made me more aware of just how often I was looking at a screen.
As a result, I found myself getting more intentional about putting the phone away, and actually sat on the sofa and enjoy my books with a cup of coffee. Giving my eyes a rest from more screens helped a ton, and I slept better afterward.
Wearing them was totally worth it
My eyes felt more rested at the end of the day – from the reduced screen time and glare – and looked visibly less tired. Plus I got tons of positive compliments on my new glasses. My mom also loves her new blue-light glasses. She opted for a Met Again – Black Fame with no prescription.
I would recommend these to anyone concerned about their digital eye strain — though I would also recommend trying to cut down on LED lighting and screen time at night as much as possible.
As for how much I liked my blue-light glasses? I’m finished with my review — but I’m still wearing them right now.
